What can I expect in therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long and provide a safe and confidential space to discuss your concerns. The initial session will involve getting to know you, understanding your goals for therapy, and determining if I’m a good fit for your needs. We’ll then collaborate to develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique situation. Therapy sessions may involve talk therapy, exploring emotions and thought patterns, or incorporating techniques like EMDR or EFT depending on your needs.
How much does therapy cost and do you accept insurance?
The cost of therapy varies depending on your specific needs and insurance coverage. I do accept insurance plans, and they are listed on my Pricing page.
Is therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything you share in our sessions is confidential, with a few exceptions required by law, such as suspected child abuse or imminent danger to yourself or others. We will discuss these exceptions in detail during our first session.
How long will therapy take?
The length of therapy depends on your individual goals and needs. Some clients find relief after a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. We will discuss your progress regularly and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
It’s completely normal to feel nervous about starting therapy. It can feel daunting to open up to a stranger about your personal struggles. However, therapists are trained to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable expressing yourself. I encourage you to discuss your anxieties during our first session, and we can work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I'm not sure if therapy is right for me. How can I decide?
If you’re unsure if therapy is right for you, a consultation can be a helpful first step. During a consultation, we can discuss your concerns in more detail and explore whether therapy could be beneficial. There are also many resources available online and in libraries that can provide you with more information about therapy and mental health in general.
